Corn Allergy Triggers
Dear NEA Scratch Pad:
I just want to share with you my discovery of my eczema trigger. Normally I do not have eczema, but for the past few months I have been struggling with eczema on my elbows and fingers. I have gluten sensitivity, and as a result of that I have been eating more corn products. I finally made the connection between eating popcorn and my eczema flare-ups. I Googled “Can corn allergy cause eczema?” Through that search I discovered I have dyshidrotic eczema, which can be a very common reaction to corn when someone cannot tolerate it. While I may not have a full-blown allergy to corn, I am sensitive enough to react to eating it. Fortunately I was able to find some relief in some creams and lotions. I have tried about four different brands and have found that the Eucerin Calming Cream and Eucerin Calming Itch-Relief Treatment work best for me. Thank you NEA for being there. I hope my discovery can help someone else on their eczema journey and they too can find some relief in changing their diet.
